Do I need dance experience?

You do NOT need to know how to dance or have any dance experience when you sign up for any Beginner class. When you sign up for Intermediate, Advanced, Technique, or Variations classes you will need to have taken at least a Beginner class.

What should I wear to class?

No Flip-flops. Please wear comfortable clothes in which you can move easily and try to wear a pair of shoes that have a hard or flat sole. You won't want to wear tennis shoes or running shoes because your feet will stick to the floor and the idea in ballroom dancing is to slide your feet across the floor.

Do I need a partner?

No partner is required for classes unless it is specifically noted in the class description. We rotate partners to help speed up the learning process.

When you dance with others, you learn your part better because you focus on your own dancing and not your partner's dancing. Then, when you return to your partner, you should have improved.

When you rotate partners you get to meet new people and have a "social dancing experience". Dancing is a social sport after all. :)

What can I do with my dancing?

Every person has a different goal. What is fun about dancing is that you as you advance toward your goal, you usually move your goal higher.

  • Social Dance & Meet People
  • Perform
  • Compete
  • Earn your Bronze, Silver, or Gold Medal
  • Have fun
